I had a friend that used to bot D3 paragon into the thousands using the same excuse. His bot could outpace my natural progression by a factor of at least 3x and he would barely play much of the season afterwards as a result. You're just cheating yourself. Its a multiplayer game. X4 is a singleplayer game in which the player can play how ever they want. I really don't understand why people care one way or the other when people feel like they have to tell others how they should enjoy their singleplyaer experience.
